Brooklyn Bedding Sedona Mattress Review Breakdown

The Sedona Hybrid Mattress, which combines layers foam and a coil core, is a hybrid model. This mattress has a medium feel and a rating of around 5 on the 10-point firmness scale. This firmness range is preferred by most sleepers, and will be comfortable for all regardless of weight or preference.

The mattress has six layers, with the comfort system being made up of the top three. The top layer is made up of 3 cm of patented polyfoam, which is designed for pressure relief and responsiveness. A 5 cm layer gel-infused memory foam provides support and cradling, while also transferring heat away. A third layer of gel-infused memory foam adds cooling and deep compression support.

The transition layer of polyfoam 3 cm eases the transition between the comfort system, and the coil system.

The core is a 20 cm layer made up of Ascension X coils. Each coil is individually wrapped so it can move freely for greater support and motion isolation. The coil system makes the mattress more responsive and breathable. To support the spring system, the final layer of polyfoam is placed at the base of the mattress. CertiPUR US certification was granted to the foams after they passed third-party testing.

The mattress cover is made of a knit panel with advanced cooling yarns that transfer heat away from the body to maintain a comfortable temperature.

Mattress Sizes And Prices

The Sedona Hybrid is a luxury model with a higher price tag than the average hybrid model. Although it is slightly more costly than other hybrid models, its resort-style feel and advanced materials may justify the additional cost. Promotional offers often bring the price down to the average hybrid mattress cost.

The Sedona Hybrid Mattress is available in six standard sizes as well as some lesser-known options such full XL, short queen and split California King. Brooklyn Bedding can also make custom sizes of mattresses upon request. However, shipping fees may apply. Brooklyn Beddings customer service team can be reached for further information.

Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

The comfort system of the Sedona Hybrids is made up of three layers of foam: a layer of 3 cm polyfoam, 5 cm of memory foam and a layer of 3 cm memory foam. This comfort system absorbs most vibrations from a sleeping partner, preventing them from having to change positions or get up in the middle of the night.

The coil core of the Sedona Hybrid could cause some motion transfer due to the spring system’s bounce. The coils are individually wrapped to limit motion transfer.

The Sedona Hybrids motion isolation rate is superior to other hybrid models. Hybrid models with thinner comfort layers may allow for more motion to be spread through the coil system to reach the mattress.

Pressure relief

The Sedona Hybrid is a hybrid that has extraordinary pressure-relieving capabilities. This is exactly what you would expect from models with medium feels.

This is due to the large comfort system.

The three-layer comfort system of the Sedona Hybrids allows for sleepers to sink into it. Additionally, the memory foam and polyfoam will distribute their weight more evenly to alleviate pressure points.

Pressure relief can be affected by weight and location. Although the Sedona Hybrid is a good choice for most sleeping positions and weight groups it can offer the best pressure relief to side sleepers who are less than 104kg.

Temperature Control

The temperature regulation is a strength of the Sedona Hybrid. This characteristic is common in hybrid mattresses, placing the Sedona Hybrid in line of similar-constructed mattresses.

Temperature control begins with the mattress cover. This panel is made of advanced cooling yarns and regulates the bed’s surface temperature by wicking away body heat. The top layer of polyfoam permits more airflow than other memory foam to allow heat to escape. Two layers of gel-infused memory Foam further heat transfer to the bottom. The breathable coil system lets heat escape from the mattress core.

Edge Support

The coil system of hybrid models can create supportive edges. This is also true for the Sedona Hybrid. The perimeter of the bed should not be lowered when a person sits or lies down near it. This will allow for a greater usable sleeping surface, which can make it easier to get in and out of bed.

Mobility made easy

Hybrid models perform well in ease-of-movement tests because of their combination support and responsiveness. The Sedona Hybrid also scores well in this category. However, it is more difficult to move than other hybrid models due to its large comfort system and generous use memory foam. Most people won’t have to move around or feel trapped on the mattress.

The comfort system is made up of two layers of memory foam and a layer of polyfoam. Memory foam is more closely fitted to the body than polyfoam and reacts slower to pressure changes, making it more difficult to move forward. It is supportive enough to prevent excessive sinkage but shouldn’t be too restrictive. The responsive coil core gives the Sedona Hybrid an enveloping springy feel that may help a person to move more easily.

Sex

Hybrid models combine the best features of both an all-foam mattress and an innerspring mattress. This makes them popular among couples who want a comfortable sleeping surface for their sex.

Although the Sedona Hybrid offers some unique benefits for sexual activity, it doesn’t get as many points as other hybrid models.

The coil core of the Sedona Hybrid makes it responsive and bouncey. This is something that many couples value in a mattress. Notable contouring is added to the comfort system, which can give you traction. It can make it a little more difficult to move about and could reduce the bounce of the core coil.

Off-Gassing

Off-gassing is a common occurrence in mattress manufacturing. These odors can get trapped in the mattress during shipping. These odors are more common in models with synthetic foam. However, a new mattress scent can be expected with any mattress.

The Sedona Hybrid, like other hybrid models is very breathable. This should help smells dissipate faster. If you place the mattress in an area that is well ventilated, most initial odors will disappear within a few hours.

Although off-gassing odors can be considered to be harmless, those who are sensitive to the smells of odors may prefer to keep their Sedona Hybrid Mattress in another room until they have been cleared out.

How To Sleep Style And How To Lose Weight

Side sleepers:Side sleepers with wider shoulders and hips can exert more force on a mattress than their rest of the body. This is known as pressure points. Sedona Hybrid reduces pressure buildup by adapting to side sleepers and spreading the weight of their body more evenly. The comfort system’s three-layer design contours to the body and provides compression support. This makes it an ideal choice for side sleepers.

Side sleepers weighing less than 104kg may find the Sedona Hybrid’s medium feel to be most suitable. The Sedona Hybrid is soft enough to fit most people in this weight range and firm enough for their spine alignment. Side sleepers over 104kg will find the Sedona Hybrid provides excellent pressure relief and good support. Side sleepers who are over 104 kg may have difficulty maintaining proper spinal alignment because of sagging around the hips or shoulders.

Back Sleepers
Back sleepers rely more on their mattresses to provide support than they do for pressure relief. However, they will often choose a mattress with enough flexibility to conform to their hips to ensure the best spinal alignment. The three-layer comfort system of the Sedona Hybrids includes a layer made of polyfoam, two layers of memory foam and a layer that gently supports back sleepers’ hips. This provides deep compression support and minimal sinkage.

Back sleepers who are between 130 and 104kg may find the Sedona Hybrid most comfortable. The medium feel of the Sedona Hybrid should provide contouring and support for most people in this weight range.

Although the Sedona Hybrid is a good choice for back sleepers of all weights, there are potential drawbacks. People who are under 59kg may like a little more contouring around the hips. Those who are over 104kg may feel that their spines don’t align properly.

Stomach sleepers:Stomach sleepers are often affected by spinal strain and the discomfort that it causes. This is because people are more likely to be overweight around their middles. Sleeping on the stomach can cause this weight to pull the spine out of alignment. The three-layer comfort system of the Sedona Hybrids molds to stomach sleepers, providing support and relieving pressure.

The Sedona Hybrid’s medium feel makes it a good choice for stomach sleepers weighing less than 104kg. They shouldn’t feel the bed too hard on their stomachs, but it should be soft enough to support their midsections so they don’t sink in. Stomach sleepers weighing more than 230 lbs will likely sink in more. This could cause strain to the lumbar region.
